One of the most successful modern house labels of the first half of this decade, Local Talk keeps surprising us with every new release they put out, with each new artist they feature and with any style they decide to promote. What sets Local Talk apart from other contenders in this scene is not the sheer quality of each release, but the very diversity of featured artists itself, a side effect of their constant search for fresh new talents that has their minds and ears open to sounds outside their comfort zone. Coupled with the fact that they press most (if not all) their release on pure black gold and it's obvious we have a solid favourite! An exceptional example of Mats & Tooli's high quality control standard was released in February and it unleashed three surreal works of jazz-infused deep house dementia to dance-floors across the world.
'Trinity EP' joins three deutsch producers and friends together for another showcase of Berlin's modern swinged house gold repertoire. Tim Vitá, Oliver Gehrmann and Xavier Hirsch have collaborated before on the Swedish imprint with an amazing raw chord club mover on the OneOffs series and now it's time for their fully owned EP.
'Blessed Munchkin' opens us with a mesmerising take on fast jazz that replaces the fiddles with low bass keys and adds a spinning twist of multiple rhodes layers and lfo-ed synths to the plot. Up next is 'Street Sounds', a funk infused disco house summer jam filled to the brim with friendly kicks, warm airy vocals, soulful claps, bright shining melodies and lively keys. On the fliside, 'Jazzclub' lives up to its name and delivers a hypnotic fast jazz piece by keeping the low strings subtle in the background and employing a thumping bass kick ensemble to keep the walls shaking while the looping retro vocal sample cuts bring a unique mood to the mix and the original instruments developing on the break push it into a dreamy state of bliss.
