Out most devoted readers will most likely remember Käse Kool from the review we did for the label's fifth release, earlier this spring. In the months that followed, Walker and Mark have been busy releasing the third incarnation of their 'Da Fromager' series that got Fabrizio Ortella, Kid Only, Brunbjörn and Mikki Funk together for a solid deep and raw underground house madness, and also preparing their upcoming release. The star of the seventh Käse Kool wax pressing is none other than Nick Beringer. The young german producer first appeared on plastic with his very own 'First Floor EP' on Wax Classics in 2012, a groundbreaking career-opener that was soon followed by a string of excellent releases on MyHouse YourHouse, Skylax, Sunset Wax, Made Fresh Daily and a truckload of appearances on Deso, Morris/Audio, Beste Modus, Käse Kool and the list goes on. It's safe to say that Nick has already established himself as one of Berlin's finest house talents and a pillar of the underground community.
For 'Passage EP’, Nick cooked up four solid house slammers perfect to get any party started and then keep it going and going in proper Berlin fashion. ‘Basix’ opens the EP with a hard-hitting warm-up piece filled with tight kicks, a splendid 909 percussion layer, old-school vocal cuts, warm stuttered pads and the fattest rolling bassline synth we’ve heard in ages. Up next, ‘Just For This’ steps up the game with its acid-tinged analog bass stabs, flowing ethereal poly synth pads, swinging drum elements and a muffled vocal slice. The flipside introduces ‘Mhmm’, a more laid-back warm-up track that will definitely get the mood going with its wide kick-drum, pumped bassline and whirling vocal work. The track matures slowly gaining more vocal one-shots, moody electric keys and a really funky percussion work. ‘Framework’ closes the EP in a truly epic fashion with a fantastic voyage into deep and moody detroit-inspired soundscapes of true house music. Just feel that rolling bassline and slamming kick taking control of your body, those celestial pads and dreamy melodies infiltrating high into your mind and the soulful vocal work seeping deep into your soul.
With the help of Nick Beringer, Käse Kool writes another page of house music history with this fabulous release, which is out Monday the 15th of September on your favourite record store!
