Detroit Swindle's bromance-born brainchild imprint Heist Recordings returns today after a three month hiatus to introduce one of the most exciting new acts from Amsterdam. Currently a student at the University of Amsterdam, Maurits Verwoerd spent most of his youth years involved in a number of related projects such as event planning and organising, music and culture education, public relations, social marketing and even entrepreneurship. In 2011 he decided it was time to give in to his creative urges and finally took the leap into music production taking up Nachtbraker as a suitable moniker. A hard worker at the core, the Dutch "Night Hawk" amassed an impressive amount of releases in his shortly spanned career for labels such as Apparel Music, Piekup Records, Fullbar an Deep Edition.
'Gute Laune EP' is Nachtbraker's wax debut, a pertinent showcase of Maurits' multiple musical facets that only reflect the wide range of genres he has been exposed to throughout his youth. Kicking things off on Side A is the title track of the EP and the one that best captures Nachtbraker's diversely creative sides with its deep driving force, funky inserts and alien key pads & stabs making this a great ass shaker, grin maker, crowd warmer. On the flipside, 'Bluebottle' reveals an entirely different world dominated by an ever-changing bassline, slapped percussions, weird synths, strange melodies and a vocoder-like gated pad. And if things weren't spooky enough, 'Xantippe' ends the EP with what starts off as a seemingly deep and hypnotic broken-beat afterhours tune, but then suddenly turns into a mad-bass haunted-house monster right after the break, whispering chilling notes of suspense into the enthralled minds of club fiends worldwide.
The "Night Hawk's Cheerfulness EP" is released this very lovely day and available at most online stores so go ahead and secure your copy in warm black gold today!
