After a successful debut EP from Coleman Buckley and a wicked second release by Oli Furness, M.I.L, the new sister label of the mighty Music Is Love Records comes back with a quality house EP by the UK young gun Liam Geddes, a personal favourite of the label honcho Oli Furness, who we previously saw in various Music Is Love releases. 'With Closed Eyes EP' consists of four original groovy house cuts from Geddes, which will instantly make you want to hear more from this young artist.
We start the journey with 'Into The Wild', a fully percussion-centric swinged track with some tribal roots in the percussions he used and a grittier vocal cut which takes the whole track to a different level. The title track 'With Closed Eyes' comes second (A2) and is characterised by a moving arrangement, robotic male vocal cuts, smooth pads in the background and a hypnotic bassline that drives the track and makes every single detail sit perfectly. We turn the vinyl on the B-side, put the needle on and we find 'A Saint', a more darker techno vibe signed by a heavy kick and a moody delayed synth which bounces gently across the track, a perfect "4am track" to drop. Last but not least, we have 'Broke', my personal favourite. With this composition, Liam shows us a different vibe, a more gentle and fine touch that brings things back to the true old school house flavour from the mid nineties. The track is signed by smooth strings, an 80's funky riff and a warm baseline.
'With Closed Eyes' is available from the 22nd of September as a special red with black splatter pressing.
