Tieffrequent is a german word that describes to a listener if a song or sound is made up of mostly low frequencies. It's what we usually call 'deep' or sometimes 'low' and it comes to no surprise that the label we are talking about today specialises is that warm and deep side of modern house music. Tieffrequent is a young berlin-based label with a vinyl-only approach to their releases which goes perfectly with the We Play Wax vibe. Their third release comes out next friday and it's a collaboration between Frank Music owner Johannes Albert and Heidelberg's fines house duo Monosoul. 'Serious Pleasures EP' lives up to it's name and delivers 4 seriously pleasurable tracks meant to expand your consciousness into the realm of deep house, raw grooves and warm melodies.
The leading track 'Serious Pleasures' builds upon a strong drum ensemble which is underlined by a raw bassline and a soothing synth string giving this deep warmer an edgy feel. Next up is our favourite track of the EP 'Yes We Dew', a track made purely for the dancefloor: delayed claps, tight snares, punchy percussions and a nasty sub bassline drive this masterpiece into headbanging territory. Following up closely on Side B is 'Eliements', a good-vibed acid-tinged house driver built upon an interplay of strong rhythms, drifty sounds and a dynamic melodic line topped with a sublime pad in the back. 'Pure Passion' concludes this release with a deep, raw and warm vibe, driven by a muffled bassline and completed by a distant discreet vocal loop, all delivering an epic ending to an amazing release.
'Serious Pleasures EP' is one of those rare complete deep house gems, a masterpiece of its kind which should not miss from any music lover's record collection. Out on 13th of January only on wax!
