Luca Venezia, Drop The Lime and Curses are three different facets of the same creative mind. Even though Luca's work as DTL has been regarded as "mainstream, easy or cheap" by the savvy folks in the underground, his few-but-strong releases behind Curses! gained him the attention and praise of that same lot. It's with tracks like 'Deep End', 'This Is The Way' or 'Stalker' that his reputation slowly rooted deeper into the underground scene and got under Nik and Jacques radar.
As you probably guessed, I am talking about NY's finest Let's Play House crew who managed to get hold of some of Curses' best selection of modern house beats for his very first LPH release. The three original tracks range from bright, quirky and cheerful with 'Bark In The Dark', a Flügel-esque arrangement of jittery horns and lively synths to dark and raw with the bass-heavy monster 'Eyes On You' that features some sweet acoustic drum samples and a hunting vocal loop. On a more housey note, 'Need You' delivers a garage-infused old-skool flavoured club groover that goes from smooth dreaming to bouncy sweating and back again for a final touch of synth magic. Naum Gabo completes this amazing package with his rather experimental interpretation of 'Bark In The Dark' where he disassembles each individual piece and lays them out in an entirely different pattern. The end result resembles a futuristic military march of the machines, ready to lay terror on all human party goers.
True to all LPH releases, you get not only quality music, but also quality product with a beautiful 12" package that adds a splash of colour to your mostly all-black/white record collection.
