Golden Pudel Club is a legendary club in Hamburg's docks with a vast history that echoes deep from within the building's walls. It all started in 1988 as a punk rock enclave by the pier named Pudel Club which was succeeded in 1995 by the actual Golden Pudel Club. For years it served as a gathering point for freaks, geeks, impersonators and everything in-between. "An ultra modern zeitgeist hive" as co-owner Schorsch Kamerun himself described it at the time.
The Pudel Produkte series began as an off-shot compilation called 'Operation Poodle XL' in 1992 and remained inactive for 9 whole years. Starting with 2001 it amassed an impressive collection of vast musical genres with featured works from the likes of Electronicat, Jason Forrest, Robag Wruhme, Move D, Anthony Shakir, Jamie Lidell, Viktor Marek, RVDS and the list goes on and on.
This bring us to March 2013 and the debut release of Circuit Diagram, a Berlin-Hamburg based production and live performance duo comprised of Nicolas Sheikholeslami on acoustic drums and Christian Jakob on live electronics. Available as a vinyl only release, 'Pudel Produkte 20' is a magnificent example of post dub hypno kraut rock.
Side A features 'Amanar', a balanced blend of cleverly swinged instrumental drums and a slightly distorted driving bassline infused with mesmerizing echoed chants and topped with a nostalgic modulated synth line. Side B is ruled by 'Iklig', a highly playful and energetic take that starts with a driving post rock bassline which is then quickly joined by stepped drum patterns, a muted jazzy piano line and the occasional spaced up vocal stabs that gives this track a well deserved psych band feel.
A must have in any electronic music aficionado's essential record collection!
